How To Close Your Webull Account (Step By Step)

If you have money or investments within your Webull account and you'd like to switch to a new brokerage platform, you have two options.

  1. You could sell all the assets held and transfer that money to your bank and then to a new platform (which could result in taxes)
  2. Or, you could transfer your Webull account to another brokerage using ACATS (note: this typically incurs a $75 fee)

Once this is complete, you can then delete your Webull account.

If you request a full ACATS transfer, your account will automatically be deleted after the transfer is completed.

Pre-Closure Requirements

Important: Before you can close your Webull account, you must ensure your account balance is at zero. Here's what you need to do first:

  1. Close all open positions and pending orders - Sell any stocks, ETFs, or other securities you currently hold
  2. Withdraw all remaining cash - Transfer any cash balance back to your linked bank account
  3. Download important documents - Save your account statements, trade confirmations, and tax documents for your records
  4. Cancel any paid subscriptions - Unsubscribe from premium market data or research services
  5. Ensure all transactions have settled - Wait for any recent trades to fully process

Note: Only an empty brokerage account can be closed. If you have any remaining assets, cash, or open orders, you won't be able to proceed with account closure.

Delete Your Webull Account

Here's how to delete your Webull account within the app once all pre-closure requirements are met:

  1. Tap the Menu button at the bottom right of the screen in the Webull app
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Manage Brokerage Account"
  4. Tap "Close Brokerage Account"
  5. Follow the prompts to confirm your account closure request

Processing Time: Account closure requests typically take 1-3 business days to process and finalize.

Alternative Closure Method

If you encounter any issues with the app-based closure process, you can also contact Webull customer support directly for assistance with closing your account. This may be necessary if you have complex account situations or technical difficulties.

What Happens After Closure

Past trading history will still be stored within Webull's servers in order to report taxes. This information is retained for regulatory compliance purposes, but you will no longer have access to the platform or be able to perform any new transactions.

Important: Once your account is closed, you will permanently lose access to the Webull platform and cannot reactivate the same account. You would need to open a new account if you decide to return to Webull in the future.
