1. Open A Robinhood Account

The first step you need to take is setting up your new brokerage account with Robinhood.

2. Gather Information From Merril Edge

In order to initiate the transfer, you need your Merril Edge account number.

Here's how to locate this:

1. Open the App and Log In: Start by opening the Merrill Edge app on your device and log in to your account using your credentials.
2. Navigate to "Accounts": Once logged in, look for the "Accounts" option at the top of your screen. This is usually located in the main navigation menu.
3. Select "Investment Accounts-Retirement": Within the "Accounts" section, you'll find various categories. Tap on "Investment Accounts-Retirement." This option may vary slightly depending on the app's interface.
4. Locate Your Account Name: Under the "Investment Accounts-Retirement" section, find your specific account name. The account name may be associated with your investment or retirement account.
5. Find Your 8-Digit Account Number: Next to your account name, you should see your 8-digit account number. It is specifically labeled as your account number and serves as a unique identifier for your Merrill Edge account.

3. Initiate The Transfer

Once you have opened a brokerage account with Robinhood, the next step is to initiate the transfer within Robinhood.

This is only possible via the Robinhood app, so you will want to download this onto your phone.

You can execute the transfer with the steps below:

1. Tap the person icon along the bottom navigation menu in the Robinhood app
2. Tap the three lines icon in the top left corner
3. Select "Transfers"
4. Choose "Transfer accounts into Robinhood"
5. Select Merril Edge by typing it in the search bar
6. Enter in your Merril Edge account number
7. Confirm your account name
8. Answer whether or not your Merril Edge account has mutual funds or bonds
9. Choose full or partial transfer
10. Review the transfer and submit
